The Systems Administrator will play a key role in a skilled technical team. This team is critical for the successful implementation and ongoing improvement of our customers` eCommerce solution.
The primary objective of this role is to extend and enhance the Venda product by administration, configuration, and system level application support, network and server monitoring and performance tuning.
Responsibilities include:
Working closely with our Help Desk and Account Management teams to support customers by solving technical issues as they arise within the SLA;
Providing first line application and platform support, including configuration management, operational changes and deploying new web sites delivered by the development teams
Managing and supporting production systems and networks to high levels of availability, performance and security
Participating in both the 24-7 on call rota and evening shift rota until 6pm Pacific time
Enhancing established processes to ensure consistent and quality work;
Pro-actively improving the service supplied to Venda`s Customers.
Technical Experience Required
UNIX Administration (Linux/Redhat preferred) in an online environment
Database Administration (PostgreSQL preferred)
Broad administration of services such as Apache (ideally with mod_perl), DNS, mail, software version control (Subversion preferred)
Systems programming (Shell and ideally Perl)
Experience building open source package sets suitable for reproducible installation
Experience supporting environments with large (>100) numbers of servers
Web Load balancer management (Zeus preferred)
NetApp filer administration or similar
Basic knowledge of networking, firewalls, routers/switches (Cisco preferred)
Security standards (PCI-DSS preferred)
Skills Required
Educated to degree level, preferably Computer Science degree or equivalent
Results driven, self motivated, positive ?can-do" attitude
Attention to detail, working to procedures, taking responsibility for output
Ability to work and adapt in a fast-paced environment, maintaining quality at all times
Ability to document and/or automate common tasks
An excellent and clear communicator, providing reports to line management as required
Experience in the eCommerce industry preferred
This position is based in Venda`s headquarters in midtown Manhattan. Regular office hours are 8:30am to 6:00pm and off-hour work may be required in the normal course of projects, including working on a shift rota to support 6pm Pacific Standard Time. Employee must be willing to travel in the US, the UK and Thailand.
